Testing Information

To schedule your C.N.A. State Board Exam, you must complete the following steps:

You must have the following items ready before you fill out the application to schedule your State Board Exam

Money Order for $115 pay to NY Commissioner of Health
Your certificate of completion which has your program end date
Social Security Number
Email address

1. Sign on to the Prometric Website to fill out the application by clicking on the link below

2. Fill out the application completely
3. Hit “submit”
4. Print out the application and bring it to the school so that the CNA Coordinator can complete and sign the section which verifies that you completed the 125 hour program at our school. Access Careers will offer you the next available test date at our location.

IF YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER SHOWS UP COMPLETELY YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG. IF YOU DID IT CORRECTLY IT WILL ONLY SHOW THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. DO NOT BRING US ANY PAPERWORK WITH YOUR COMPLETE NUMBER. IT IS WRONG!

PROMETRIC MAY EMAIL YOU STATING THAT YOUR APPLICATION IS INCOMPLETE. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT UNTIL PROMETRIC RECIEVES YOUR MONEY ORDER, THEY DEEM YOUR APPLICATION INCOMPLETE. WHEN THEY RECEIVE YOUR MONEY ORDER YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE COMPLETE.

WE DO NOT GIVE TEST DATES OVER THE PHONE!

YOU MUST COME IN PERSON WITH A COMPLETED APPLICATION

If you feel that you would like to test earlier, we will sign your application and you can mail it directly to Prometric. You will be given the next available testing date at a regional testing center. It will not be at this location. If you choose this option you will be dealing directly with Prometric and no correspondence of your testing information will be sent to Access Careers.

If you need to reschedule or cancel your exam date: PLEASE CONTACT PROMETRIC DIRECTLY

Follow these steps to retrieve your online results:

Go to https://registry.prometric.com/public
Copy the security check words and click on verify
Click on name
Enter the first name and last name that you registered for the exam with. If this is not identical to your application it will not work
Enter your date of birth
Click search
If you passed…..CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

You will be placed on the NYS Registry 7 business days after your exam

Check your status on the NYS Registry at https://registry.prometric.com/registry/public and then click on the “NY Nurse Aide Registry” link, or call 1-800-918-8818

If you failed the written exam and you need to retake it again have the following items ready :

– Your Prometric ID

-Money Order for $57

If you failed the skills exam and you need to retake it again have the following items ready :

– Your Prometric ID

-Money Order for $68

If you failed both skills and written exams and you need to retake both again have the following items ready :

– Your Prometric ID

-Money Order for $125

If your CNA license has lapsed and you need to renew it you must call Prometric directly. If you can prove to them that you have worked 12 hours in a Registered Health Care Facility (RHCF) in the past 2 years, you do not have to re-take any exams or classes. If your employer shows proof of employment, Prometric will re-new your license. You do not have to take any exams again. It is an automatic renewal.

If you have no proof that you worked in the two (2) years, then you must take both parts of the exam again. Call Prometric and deal directly with them to schedule your exam. If you feel confident you do not have to take any classes again. You do not have to retake the CNA program. You can just the exam again.

How to register for the NHA Test Online:

First go to www.nhanow.com
Go to the bottom of the page choose which NHA certification your taking.
- - - Patient Care Technician (CPCT/A $155)
    - Medical Billing Coding (CBCS $117)
    - EKG Technician (CET $117)
    - Phlebotomy Technician (CPT $117)
    - Medical Assistant (CCMA $155)
It will ask you to set up an NHA account with your information.
Pick the location where you want to take the test (Access Careers, Hempstead or Access Careers, Islandia)
Our school has two tests dates every month. They are 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. The dates will be shown on the NHA website. The timing of the test is 1:45pm. Please be here by 1:30pm
Once you complete the the basic profile application pay for the test fee with either credit card or debit card
An NHA confirmation order verifying that you are scheduled for the exam will be emailed to you
On the day of the exam please bring your confirmation email and an ID to confirm you are the test taker.
